Intriguing letter signed by General and Napoleon's Minister of Police, Anne Jean Marie Rene Savary, 1st Duc de Rovigo. Signed "Le duc de Rovigo" and datelined Paris, 24 June 1811, letter discusses the problem of a document circulating sensitive information among the clergy of Loudec, reading in part: "…I gave the orders to have a search for the evidence to know the author, also the staff who spread the document…I will be obliged…to communicate classified information you further obtain…" 1pp. measures 7.5" x 11.25". Very light foxing along top edge and a pencil notation, else near fine. Accompanied by full translation.
