Pablo Picasso autograph letter signed, dated 27 July 1950 with mention of his famous artwork ''L'homme au Mouton'', Picasso's first sculpture installed in a public place. From Vallauris, France (the site of ''L'homme au Mouton'' installation), Picasso writes to his friend Max, translated from French in part, ''When will you come here? I don't have much to show you. I work, as you know, every day at the studio until 9pm in the evening. I don't know how to do anything different... And now to the matters at hand. I will send you a check for contributions payable to the union for the recovery of social security contributions (5940 francs). I very much would like to see you, couldn't you come by here soon? Best to you and thank you, your Picasso.'' He then adds, alongside the side of the page, ''The inauguration of the monument (L'homme au Mouton) here in Vallauris is meant to take place on 6th August at 4pm.'' Penned in bold fountain pen with strong visual appeal, single page measures 8.25'' x 10.5''. Folds and light creasing, overall near fine condition.
