Harry Houdini typed letter signed, dated 17 February 1923 on The Saint Paul hotel stationery. Houdini writes to bookseller Faber Birren in Chicago regarding selling his books, ''Miracle Mongers'' and ''Paper Tricks''. Letter reads in part, ''Glad you saw the Show of the Chicago Assembly. I knew there would be something there that you would like. / Enclosed you will find my Tour...Why don't you put my books on sale at your establishment. You know they are published by E.P. Dutton & Co.: 'Miracle Mongers' and 'Paper Tricks'. You cannot lose very much and I will be pleased to have you push the sale...[signed] Houdini''. The tour schedule referenced by Houdini is lot 104 in this auction.

Signed in pencil by Houdini. Letter measures 8.375'' x 10.75''. Folds, small hole at top, paperclip impressions and three hole punch along right side. Very good condition. The recipient of the letter, Faber Birren, would ultimately become a renowned 20th century color theorist. Consigned by the family of Faber Birren.
