Harry Houdini typed letter signed, dated 27 February 1926 on his personal stationery. Letter to his business associate, Faber Birren, reads in part, ''My dear Professor Birren: Will be in Chicago at the Princess Theatre, starting March 8th, and will square things up with you at that time...'' Signed by Houdini in pencil.
Faber Birren was a friend of Houdini's who worked at a bookstore selling Houdini's books. Birren would also be dispatched by Houdini to investigate local psychics and spiritualists and then report back to Houdini with his findings. This letter likely refers to expenses incurred by Birren for attending a spiritualist conference earlier in February. Single page letter measures 8.5'' x 5.375''. Folds, toning, small hole at top, mounting remnants to verso and hole punched at left. Very good condition. Consigned by the family of Faber Birren, who would later become one of the most renowned color theorists of the 20th century.
