Lot of items from the personal collection of Major General Charles Sweeney, who piloted the Bockscar mission that dropped the atomic bomb on Nagasaki on 9 August 1945, ending World War II. Collection includes:

1) Report signed by Sweeney, ''Lt. Col. Chas. W. Sweeney'', indicating it was signed shortly after the report was released on 30 June 1946, before Sweeney was promoted to Brigadier General. Report by The United States Strategic Bombing Survey is titled ''The Effects of Atomic Bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki''. Report spans 47pp. with two large fold-out maps at back and numerous photos throughout. Bound in pale blue softcovers measuring 8'' x 10.25''. Light creasing and chipping, overall in very good condition.

2) Charles Sweeney and Paul Tibbets signed copy of letter dated 25 July 1945 from the War Department, announcing the plan to bomb four cities in Japan. Single page measures 8.5'' x 11''. Very good.

3-4) Two copies of a diagram titled ''Escape Maneuver for Atomic Mission'', each showing different views for the Hiroshima mission. Each measures 8.5'' x 11'' with blank versos. Very good condition. Consigned by the son of Charles Sweeney.
