Hannibal Hamlin autograph note signed as Vice President, dated 21 December 1863. A strong abolitionist, Hamlin was replaced by southern sympathizer Andrew Johnson in the 1864 election in order to thwart the candidacy of George McClellan. From Washington, Hamlin acknowledges the receipt of a note from E.A. Kobbe. Measures 4.5'' x 6.625''. Partially mounted to cardstock of equal size. Very good condition.
