Society of Cincinnati document signed by George Washington as President, conferring membership in the exclusive Society available only to Revolutionary War officers and their eldest male heirs. Washington here confers membership to Crocker Sampson, a Lieutenant who served in the 7th Massachusetts Regiment of the Continental Army. Document is dated 5 May 1784, signed ''Go: Washington'' at lower right. Vellum document measures 20.75'' x 14.25'' with decorative vignettes including the Society of Cincinnati seal. Washington's signature is large, but slightly faded. Overall in very good to near fine condition with vellum is much better condition than usually encountered. One of the most collectible documents signed by Washington.
