Original Hal Foster lot of preliminary artwork for the ''Prince Valiant'' comic strip, #1859 in the series. Pencil sketch was for the strip published on 24 September 1972, hand-drawn by Foster as the strip transitioned from Foster to John Cullen Murphy. Lot also includes a typed story outline, and separate typed story narration. Sketch measures 8.5'' x 11''; typed pages measure 8'' x 10.5''. Three hole punch, and 2'' closed tear to sketch, repaired with tape on verso. Overall in very good condition. From the John Cullen Murphy estate.
