Original Hal Foster lot of preliminary artwork for the ''Prince Valiant'' comic strip, #1781 in the series. Set of two pencil sketches were for the strip published on 28 March 1971, hand-drawn by Foster as the strip transitioned from Foster to John Cullen Murphy. In addition to the sketch for the strip, Foster also sketches two characters - Palo Medes and Lancelot on a separate sheet, which appears on the verso of an earlier crossed-out story narration. A typed story outline, and separate typed story narration are also included. Four sheets each measure 8.5'' x 11''. Three hole punch, and light creasing, overall in very good condition.
