Letter is addressed to Eisenhower's brother, Edgar, and humorously refuses an offer for a pet elephant: ''...For goodness sake, tell your friend, Mr. Irwin, that the last thing I need or could use would be a live elephant. I have enough problems without finding food and caretakers for that kind of a pet...make your negative reply very firm indeed!...[signed] DE''. Letter measures 7'' x 10.25'', with two holes punched at top. Near fine. Accompanied by copy of letter from Edgar that precipitated Eisenhower's reply.
