Henry Clay handwritten letter, dated 12 December 1826, during his term as Secretary of State under John Quincy Adams. The letter to Col. Rochester reads in part: ''...I...transmit you the enclosed note...which I hope will prove satisfactory. Mrs. Rochester is in the District and well. We hope to see her frequently. Yours faithfully. H. Clay''. He also initials a postscript and signs a free frank on the address panel. Significant toning and separation to folds of 8'' x 10'' single page card style letter. Good condition.
