Fred Astaire typed letter signed on 16 August 1950, granting Warner Brothers Pictures permission to use his name in the upcoming Doris Day musical ''Lullaby of Broadway.'' This clever and funny letter begins ''You are hereby granted the right, but not the obligation, to use my name in connection with the production...'Lullaby of Broadway,' in the following manner...'' Astaire then writes an original movie scene, in script form, starring his dancing rival Gene Nelson, who in the scene is talking to a young boy. It reads in part: ''...Boy: My mom and dad took me to see your show on Broadway last year. I think you're the greatest dancer in the world!...[Gene]: It's me and you against Fred Astaire...'' Single page measures 8'' x 9.75'', framed with a photo of Astaire to an overall size of 24'' x 17''. Light folding to letter, else near fine.
