Tennis ace Arthur Ashe 1977 commemorative plaque awarded to the star by the Petersburg, Virginia alumni chapter of the Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity. By 1977, Ashe was a legend known worldwide after his 5 July 1975 Wimbledon win as the first African American. Ashe was a prominent member of Kappa Alpha Psi, the historically African American fraternity. Gold plaque is engraved: ''Petersburg Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Honors Arthur Ashe Jr. For Outstanding Achievement / Personifying Purpose of the Fraternity / Fidelity To His Art / And to the Fraternity / October 28, 1977''.
