Three autograph letters signed, dated only with a month or day, touch on various subjects, including Astor's writing. Three typed letters signed, one dated 5 October 1957, also mention her writing. Astor was a bestselling author as well as an award winning actress. A typed letter signed, dated 5 October 1971, grants permission for a clip of Astor's iconic role in ''The Maltese Falcon'' to be shown in another film. Fourteen miscellaneous signed items include an apartment rental agreement, an auto warranty, an agreement with a building contractor in Mexico, an import document in Spanish listing building supplies, bills of sale for household goods, both in Mexico and California, and a request for statement of earnings. Astor, who made her TV debut in 1954, also signs a 1962 contract for a TV appearance. Finally, Astor signs a document as a resident of the Motion Picture and Television Country House and Lodge, where she lived until her death in 1987.
