King George VI & Queen Elizabeth invitation to their appearance at the 1939 World's Fair in New York. Addressee is Mary Hayes MacArthur, daughter of stage and screen star Helen Hayes. Printed invitation reads in part, ''Visit of Their Majesties / King George VI and Queen Elizabeth / To The British Pavilion / New York World's Fair / 10th June 1939 / Admit Miss Mary Hayes MacArthur to the reserved enclosure between the British Pavilion and the Lagoon of Nations...card...is strictly personal and not transferrable...'' Verso bears a rubber stamp of the United Kingdom Government Commission for the 1939 World's Fair. Sadly, Mary died of polio ten years after this event at the age of 19. Card measures 5'' x 3''.
