Collection of 6 autograph letters signed by Urbaine Le Verrier, the French mathematician and astronomer who discovered Neptune in 1846. Verrier is also one of the 72 names inscribed on the Eiffel Tower and received the Gold Medal of the Royal Astronomical Society in 1868 and 1876. One letter is dated 2 June 1859, all others undated. 5 letters measure 5'' x 8'' on card-style stationery, one letter measures 8'' x 11''. All are written in French. Letters range from very good to near fine condition.
