Stan Laurel typed letter signed ''Stan Laurel'' with his full name, dated 20 November 1961. Laurel writes about the ''Bel Air Fire'' that happened earlier in November, the recently published book ''Mr. Laurel and Mr. Hardy'', and also his and Oliver Hardy's heights. Letter to his friend Bill Brown reads in part, ''...Surprised the Indians are now allowed to frequent beer parlors, probably they are limited to Beer only, no spirits...Mr Hardy's height was correct 6ft. I 1/2. mine was 5ft 9. I never wore heels on my shoes, so appeared a little shorter. / If you're having difficulty in getting the L&H book, I suggest you contact the publisher yourself, Doubleday Co. Inc...Finally got some rain today, its really very welcome, but unfortunately too late, it would have helped prevent these recent fires & the loss over over [sic] 465 homes...Happy Yuletide Season...[signed] Stan Laurel''.
