Early Sheldon Mayer comic art for the strip ''Why Big Brothers Leave Home'', signed ''Sheldon Mayer'' at the bottom. This series about the tribulations of an older brother would ultimately be penned by ''Scribbly'', Mayer's alter ego who debuted in 1936, but at this time in the early 1930s, it appears that Mayer had already conceived of the idea before he connected it to Scribbly. Sketch on flexible illustration board measures 9'' x 8''. Mild toning and spot of discoloration at top margin, otherwise near fine condition. From the Sheldon Mayer estate.
