Intriguing handwritten notes by President Richard Nixon. Notes are from a collection of handwritten Nixon documents collected by Nixon's biographer and New York Herald Tribune political journalist Earl Mazo, who wrote, ''Richard Nixon: A Political and Personal Portrait''. Published in 1959, the book's source material was written near or before 1958, when Nixon was Vice President. This sheet features a note in black ink, ''Henry Ford / Rockefeller'' that stands alone on one end of the page. Opposite, penciled notes read, ''Danger / Smug, fat, satisfied with status quo - / Lose initiative - drive - / Defensive - / want to be taken care of.'' Verso reads in pencil, ''Art - / Music / Literature / even chance for our people at starting line / as burden of Toil is raised - / not a nation well housed well clothed well fed well led...'' Crossed out beneath are more notes, ''Special interest groups...a vote to raise the cost of living / class interest / Best year in History + best 4th quarter / Munitions makers - lobby''. Document runs 2pp. on a single sheet. Measures 5.5'' x 5.75''. Perforation runs through center with some separation starting to one end, else near fine.
