Rene Gagnon WWII autograph letter signed three times as a Private First Class in Company E, 2nd Battalion, 28th Marine Regiment, and with an additional signed Christmas card. From an undisclosed location in the ''Central Pacific'', Gagnon writes to his future wife Pauline Harnois. Dated 7 December 1944, love letter reads in part, ''...I just came back from the movies, Up In Mables Room was playing, it sure was a good comedy...I'm sending you a couple pictures for your album...its only 15 minutes before taps and I've got to answer a letter to my cousin...Rene''. Accompanied by the censor-stamped mailing envelope made out in Gagnon's hand in ink, including his name and return address. Two page letter on two sheets of ruled stationery measures 8'' x 10''. In addition to signing the closure of his letter, Gagnon writes ''R.A. Gagnon'' at the bottom edge of both sheets. Toning and creasing, else near fine. Christmas card is signed, ''Love as Ever, Rene'' in black ink. Measures 4.25'' x 5.75''. Card is taped at the top edge to the envelope, made out in Gagnon's hand bearing his name and return address; overall very good.
