Project Mercury ''Capsule Flight Operations Manual'', #SEDR 109-10, dated January 1961 and revised 30 May 1961, published by McDonnell Aircraft Corp. for Capsules 11 and 15. Very rare handbook for these two particular capsules was used to train the Mercury 7 astronauts for the Project Mercury flights. Capsule 11 (Liberty Bell 7) was used in Mercury-Redstone 4, piloted by Gus Grissom, and capsule 15 was designated for MR-5, ultimately cancelled but with John Glenn scheduled to fly. Alan Shepard's copy of this manual is displayed at the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC.
Manual runs over 100 pages, divided into three sections: Normal Procedures, Emergency Procedures and Trouble Shooting, featuring several pages of pull-out illustrations. An additional section titled Astronaut's Check List for both Normal and Emergency Procedures appears on card stock paper at back. Manual is housed in three-ring binder with forest green covers measuring 6.25'' x 7.5''. Minor wear to covers, interior remains pristine. Overall near fine.
