Scarce ''Impeach Nixon'' poster, circa 1973, signed by the artist Thomas W. Benton. Known for his close collaboration with Hunter S. Thompson, Benton's graphic artwork of a skull with swastika eyes closely resembles the cover art of Thompson's book, ''Fear and Loathing: On the Campaign Trail '72''. Benton would modify that image slightly for his famous ''Impeach Nixon With Honor'' image; the artwork of this poster is reportedly an earlier version, before Benton added ''With Honor''. Poster measures 20'' x 26'', signed ''Thomas W. Benton'' in pencil at lower right. Some edgewear, with 2'' closed tear at upper right, repaired with tape on verso. Pinholes to corners and discoloration to lower margin. Wear is mostly confined to margins, with image itself in very good condition, with still vibrant colors.
