Approximately 166 pages of storyboard art from the Dr. Seuss television special, ''Halloween Is Grinch Night'', which aired on 29 October 1977 and won a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Children's Program the following year. As the prequel to ''How the Grinch Stole Christmas!'', this Grinch special is unique in that the Grinch remains unrepentant at the end of the film, leaving his redemption for the Christmas special. Storyboard art is rendered largely in fine felt-tip, and also in pen, watercolor, crayon and marker, on pages mostly measuring 14'' x 8.5''. The entire story is told in pictorial succession, with narration accompanying the artwork. Each page bears the printed name of ''DePatie-Freleng Enterprises, Inc.'' at lower right, the animation company active from 1963-1981, based in Burbank, California, that produced ''Halloween Is Grinch Night''. Most pages are original art, with approximately 60 pages that are copied, some with handwritten notes and sketches. Storyboard artist is unknown, likely one of the animators on the special. Some chipping and creasing, overall in very good condition. A unique piece of Dr. Seuss Grinch memorabilia, one of the most memorable children's characters of the 20th century.
