Mary Astor lot of 20 signed letters spanning 1965-1967 mostly pertaining to her book ''A Place Called Saturday.'' 19 of the letters are autograph letters signed to her agent Gloria Sefier. One item is a typed letter signed to an apparent agent of her publisher named ''Lee'', whom she tries to dissuade from making changes to the plot of her novel. Copies of Safier's letters to Astor are included, and the two discuss the promotion of her novel and direction of her career. At one point Astor asks Safier to try to secure voiceover work for her, since she is collecting unemployment and can no longer handle grueling film and television shoot hours. In another letter the aged star talks about her upcoming spot in LIFE magazine and hopes her shingles will subside in time for the photo session. Mary Astor starred in over 100 movies including ''The Maltese Falcon'' and won an Academy Award before retiring to Woodland Hills, California. Most letters appear on her personal stationery and are in very good to near fine condition.
