Mary Astor autograph letter signed, dated simply ''Sunday'' on stationery showing her Malibu address at ''Stella Maris''. Astor's letter, likely to her agent Gloria Safier discusses the sad death of her dog, ''Just a note so that the next time you write you won't send 'Love to Missy,' and break my heart all over again. Chris killed her. Yesterday. When she was outside, usually down out of eight on the lower level (remember the piece of land below the wall) I would let Chris in the house, for a relief from his pen. A door was left open and he was out of it (Just as I remembered) and teaching[?] her. I saw him search her out and kill her like a rabbit. And could do nothing. I'm full of sedation. I had a king size can of hysterics. Thought I'd tell you.'' Signed ''Mary'' in blue ink, one page letter measures 8.5'' x 11'' with notations in red ink. Very good condition.
