Lot of 48 Confederate States of America currency bills, issued in Richmond, Virginia on 17 February 1864 and signed on front. Lot includes:
1-2) Two T65 $100 bills with serial numbers 664 and 13802. Bills display portraits of Lucy Pickens, the Queen of the Confederacy, George Wythe Randolph, CSA Secretary of War, and soldiers. Bills are engraved by Keatinge & Ball, Columbia, SC.
3-43) Forty-one T66 $50 bills with serial numbers ranging from 2270 - 88546. Bills display a portrait of Jefferson Davis, CSA President. Engraved by Keatinge & Ball, Columbia, SC.
44-46) Three T68 $10 bills with serial numbers 38644, 38660 and 61091. Bills display a battle scene and portrait of Robert M. T. Hunter, CSA Secretary of State. Engraved by Keatinge & Ball, Columbia SC and printed by Evans & Cogswell.
47-48) Two T69 $5 bills with serial numbers 30645 and 92568. Bills display the Virginia State Capitol Building and a portrait of Christopher G. Memminger, CSA Secretary of the Treasury. Lithographed by Evans & Cogswell and engraved by Keatinge & Ball, Columbia, SC.
All bills are circulated with expected wear including chipping to edges. One $100 bill is torn with paper loss along left edge. Overall in good condition.
