Dwight Eisenhower typed letter twice-signed, dated 1 December 1943, on ''Allied Force Headquarters'' letterhead. Written just prior to Roosevelt's appointment of Eisenhower as Supreme Allied Commander in Europe. Addressed to brother ''Ed'', letter reads in part: ''...The past three weeks have been among the busiest of my life and opportunities for indulging in personal correspondence are fleeting indeed...I thoroughly enjoyed your story about the little negro boy and if he comes in again, you may, if you choose, give him the signature which I will place on the bottom of this letter. He might want to put it in his scrapbook...'' Signed ''Ike'' and again ''Dwight D Eisenhower'' along bottom. Letter, measuring 6'' x 8'', has one fold from mailing. Near fine.
