Ellen A. Wilson signs a letter, dated 29 September 1913, on a President's Cottage, Cornish, New Hampshire, note card. The first lady's letter to Robert Talmage reads, ''The estimate...is very satisfactory. I have written...to that effect and...go ahead without any delay. I am sure you will hear from him to that effect but even if you do not -- please go on...of course...strings must be tied...(as I told Col. C) on account of the wedding...very sincerely / Ellen A. Wilson''. The Wilsons had moved into the White House upon President Wilson's 4 March 1913 inauguration. Talmage was likely helping with redecorating. Edith Wilson only lived until August 1914, but while she was first lady, she arranged White House weddings for her two daughters, Jessie on 25 November 1913 and Eleanor on 7 May 1914. It is likely Jessie's wedding that is mentioned in the letter. Note card measures 5.25'' x 3.5'', in near fine condition. With original envelope.
