Harold E. ''Red'' Grange signed biography of University of Illinois football coach Robert Zuppke, ''Zuppke of Illinois'' published by A.L. Glaser: Chicago: 1937. One of the greatest players in the history of college football inscribes the whole of the front free endpaper in blue ink: ''Sincerely / to / my good friend / 'Bill' Mills / from / Red Grange / 4/5/46''. Grange and Zuppke were a winning combination, both becoming College Football Hall of Famers, and the halfback's perspective on the coach's life story is straightforward and thought-provoking. Runs 179pp. Bound in navy blue cloth boards with a football imprint to the front board. Measures 5.75'' x 8.25''. Light toning and scattered staining to tail edge of leaves. Wear to spine edges and upper board corners. In very good condition.
