Invitation and ticket to the Port of New York Authority's dedication ceremony of the Lincoln Tunnel. Captain Howard Steiger is invited to the New York City event on 21 December 1937. The $85,000,000 tunnel was constructed with funding from the New Deal and designed by Ole Singstad. It opened to traffic the next day, charging $0.50 per passenger car. Card-style invitation measures 4'' x 5.75''. Ticket stub admitting one to the dedication has nice gilt seals, one bearing the bust of Lincoln and the other of the tunnel itself. Verso bears serial number 1188 in red print. Measures 6'' x 3.5''. Lot includes original envelope and attendee's name card, numbered 71. All items are near fine.
