Signed limited edition of ''Operation Lifeline: History and Development of the Naval Air Transport Service.'' Ziff Davis Publishing: Chicago, New York: 1947. This is number 836 of 1,000 with limitation page signed by WWII Admirals ''James Forrestal'', ''CW Nimitz'', ''AW Radford'' and ''J.W. Reeves''. Author James Lee's 171pp. hardcover volume examines the history and role of the NATS, enhanced by lauded photojournalist Joe Rosenthal's images. Bound in navy blue cloth boards with gilt embossed NATS seal design and raised gilt lettering to spine. All edges gilt. Gilt lettering and seal to signed page. Pictorial endpapers are illustrated with extensive air routes diagrammed on a world map. Measures 9.25'' x 12.25''. Cracked hinge and rubber stamping to front free endpaper and fly-leaf by the USS Intrepid Research Library and the Intrepid Sea, Air, & Space Museum Library. Very good.
