The President signs, ''Andrew Jackson'', granting ''...Chapel Hedge of Montgomery county...the East half of the South East quarter of section Four...in the district of lands subject to sale at Cahaba Alabama, containing Sixty nine Acres...'' Alabama was one of the states where Native American tribes were forced to move west because of Jackson's policy of Indian removal. In Alabama, removal was complete by the late 1830's. 15.5'' x 9.5'' vellum document is countersigned by Elijah Hayward of the General Land Office. Document is accompanied by 7.5'' x 10'' print of an image of Jackson. Moderate soiling and fading to land grant; small hole in text of document, not affecting signature.
