Deeply personal Rose Kennedy autograph letter signed, with envelope postmarked 17 May 1949. Mrs. Kennedy writes to her sister-in-law, Loretta Connolly, ''Dearest Loretta, just a quick note to tell you that mother after six months is feeling much better. She had ''dizzy spells'' + took liver inoculations. (9 think it was) Every day. The nurse gave her a shot. I shall find out exactly. She also tried to drink milk and eat more which should help you as people look better as they get older with a little roundness. So this note is just to give you an idea. We all are fine but it was Kathleen's anniversary Friday and I am working on Joe Joe's portrait so I am a little sad, dear, but I still love you. Rose''. The Kennedy matriarch's second daughter, Kathleen, died from an airplane crash a year prior to writing and her first son, Joseph Jr, was killed during World War II. The letter was written some years before her two son's John F. and Bobby Kennedy were assassinated. Folded card style letter measures 5'' x 6.25'' on Plaza Hotel stationery. Light toning else near fine condition.
