This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 5/25/2023
Document from James Dean's New York manager, Jane Deacy, regarding Dean's ''PROPOSED DEAL TO WARNERS FOR JIMMY DEAN'', referencing the contract Dean would sign for ''East of Eden'' and his subsequent films. Undated, but likely early April 1954 shortly before the contract was signed, notes comprise two pages, with Deacy's handwriting on the verso of the second page. Deacy summarizes the terms of the deal on the first page, namely that the contract includes the possibility of nine films, and that Dean has ''Tested for part of Cal in 'East of Eden.''' Some of her concerns are then stated, such as ''I think that the option should be mutual as this prohibits him from taking a Broadway show.'' She then asks, ''After Jimmy has completed eight pictures for Warners his contract is terminated?'' Several others clauses are typed, with the section on ''Television rights'' leading into the second page. One of her questions is what level of billing will Dean be given on the films. Two pages on two separate sheets measure 8.5'' x 11''. Heavy toning and chipping, but with no loss of content. Good condition. From the estate of James Dean's agent, Jane Deacy.
