Abraham Lincoln military commission signed as President, appointing John R. Thompson to the rank of Captain, signed on 24 May 1864. Document features a prominent signature by Lincoln with his full name, "Abraham Lincoln", with decorative military vignettes and blue paper seal. Countersigned by Secretary of War Edwin Stanton. Measures 15.75" x 19.25". Mounted to board with staining and foxing along edges. Smoothed folds and some overall fading. Overall in good plus condition.
