Hunter S. Thompson ''Manor House'' postcard from February 1961 sent to his friend Paul Semonin. On this card, Thompson tapes a small illustration of a jackdaw bird with a printed message ''Beware of the Bird''. Thompson then handwrites underneath, ''- also the armed nark -''. Thompson had recently relocated to Big Sur and found work as a caretaker at the Manor House in Slates Hot Springs, which he wrote about for ''Rogue'' magazine in October 1961 entitled ''Big Sur: The Topic of Henry Miller''. Card postmarked 10 February 1961 from Big Sur measures 5.5'' x 3.25''. Some discoloration to tape, overall very good condition.
