Rare large-format Royal Air Force lithograph poster, designed to train World War I pilots the basics of flight. With the Wright Brothers having only completed their public airshows a decade earlier, a mastery of aviation - let along combat flying, was uncharted territory. Evocative poster entitled ''Beware of the Moon'' warns pilots to avoid making themselves a target for gunners while flying at night. Published by Air Technical Services, dated 21 September 1918. With Air Ministry and Royal Air Force stamps on verso. Two-tone lithograph measures 40'' x 27''. Light wear, and some discoloration confined to extreme right margin. Overall very good condition.
