Abraham Lincoln military commission signed as President, appointing Charles Spraul to the rank of Captain in the U.S. Aide-de-Camp Volunteer Infantry on 30 July 1862. Document features a prominent signature by Lincoln, signed with his full name, ''Abraham Lincoln''. Countersigned by Secretary of War Edwin M. Stanton. With decorative military vignettes, vellum document measures 13.5'' x 16.25''. Folds, with one just skimming the top of Lincoln's signature, and some bunching to vellum. Overall very good condition.
