In October of 1942 he writes to his wife, Mamie, in part: ''Darling...Actually, I'm sometimes astonished that I write anyone - except you - there's little I can say to anyone about occurrences, and with others I don't have the right or the inclination just to ramble along inconsequentially...I've just finished a picture taking ordeal! I always feel like a ---- fool when they say - 'A little smile, please!' Blah! Always yours & with heaps of love / Ike''. With original War Department envelope postmarked 6 October 1942. Two page letter on two sheets measures 6'' x 9''. Light smudge to Ike's name, otherwise near fine with bold writing.
