Sir Walter Scott autograph letter signed, circa 1813 regarding the construction of his home Abbotsford, considered a masterpiece of Scottish Baronial architecture. Letter reads in part, ''...We will need at the entrance of the Avenue a small lodge the simpler...the better having just a hallow[?] & a single room. Elevation & specification of such a building will be also highly desirable as it should if possible be got ready by June...WScott''. Three page letter on card-style bifolium stationery measures approximately 8.75'' x 7'' unfolded. Separation starting at fold, overall very good condition. Framed so that the entire letter can be read, to a size of 15.75'' x 14''.
