Walt Disney signed animation cel used in Disney's 1940 classic "Pinocchio", the groundbreaking follow-up to the first full length Disney animated film, ''Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs''. Very large cel, featuring Pinocchio & Jiminy Cricket, measures 4.5" x 5.5", with original background measuring 7.5" by 9.5", and mat measuring 15" x 16" upon which Disney signs, "To Gorden Crier / Best Wishes / Walt Disney". Disney gifted Gordon Crier the cel after Crier produced a BBC program about Disney in the late 1940s, at the conclusion of which Disney asked Crier what his favorite cartoon was, to which Crier replied, "Pinocchio". With Courvoisier Galleries sticker affixed to backing certifying that both the background and cel were used in the filming of "Pinocchio". Walt Disney Productions stamp appears on mat, above Disney's signature, reading "original / WDP". Uniform toning to mat and small amount of abrasion to edges. Cel itself is near fine. With an LOA from Crier's daughter and a COA from Phil Sears. A rare, special Disney signed cel from one of the classics in animated film, also unusual for its size.
