First edition, published in 1507, of ''Decachordum Christianum'' by Cardinal Marcus Vigerius. Fano, Italy: Printer Girolamo Soncino, 10 August 1507. After the technology of movable type spread throughout Europe in the latter half of the 15th century, exquisite examples of the printed book appeared, such as this, considered the finest publication by the printer Girolamo Sonjavascript:DoNav('364')cino. The 247pp. volume plus index contains 10 full page cuts (likely metal), featuring the life of Christ from Annunciation through Ascension, as well as 33 smaller woodcuts, from 27 blocks. All cuts are present. The author's Cardinal coat of arms appears on the title page. Book measures 8.5'' x 12.25'', bound later in vellum with gilt lettering to spine. Title page has light soiling and is re-margined at top. Overall very good condition with very little toning and virtually no soiling or foxing. A fine example from the Golden Age of Printing.
