First edition, first printing of Harper Lee's masterpiece, "To Kill A Mockingbird", housed in its first printing dust jacket. Philadelphia & New York: J.B. Lippincott, 1960. With all first printing points present: "FIRST EDITION" stated on the copyright page, with green and brown boards. For the dust jacket, the original price of $3.95 appears on the front flap, along with the blurb by Truman Capote, and without a printing statement. The review by Jonathan Daniels appears on the rear flap. Book runs 296pp. and measures 5.75" x 8.25" x 1.25". Bound in brown paper boards with a green cloth spine titled with brown lettering. Separation just starting at joints, previous owner's inscription to front free endpaper, and light shelf wear to boards, overall very good condition. Dust jacket is in good condition, with expected creasing and chipping. An attractive copy of this important and highly engaging novel, a cornerstone in 20th century American literature.
