Rare Photoplay award for ''Beau Geste'' in 1926, one of the earliest Best Picture awards given out in Hollywood. Founded in 1920, the Photoplay medal was awarded by Photoplay Magazine, one of the first film magazines and quite powerful in the motion picture business throughout the 1920s and 1930s. The medal preceded the Academy Award by 9 years and greatly influenced the creation of the Academy Awards. Bronze medal is for the 1926 film ''Beau Geste'' with the following engraved upon the reverse: ''Presented to Paramount-Famous-Lasky Corp. by Photoplay Magazine for the Production of Beau Geste The Best Photoplay of the Year 1926''. Measures 2.75'' in diameter. A few small dings, otherwise near fine.
