Hal Foster original artwork from ''Prince Valiant'', comprised of two drawn pieces: First is a large 8.75'' x 10.5'' panel from the 12 May 1940 Sunday comic strip, #170, featuring Sir Gawain raising his goblet in a humorous Monty Python-esque toast: ''...'You are Sir, with my compliments, a fool. I suspect you of being too stupid to learn a lesson. Losing all your money was bad but staking your horse and gear was sheer idiocy...''' Panel is signed by Foster at upper right, ''To Miss Shirley [?] / with best wishes / from Hal Foster''. Near fine condition. Second artwork is a drawing of Aleta, Queen of the Misty Isles, signed, ''To Doris Larson / from Hal Foster / as a reminder of a very pleasant visit''. Faint diagonal mark across image, otherwise near fine. Pieces are matted together to a size of 13.25'' x 21.25''.
