Golden Globe award for ''Dances With Wolves'', the phenomenally successful film that revived the western genre and defied expectations to become a critical and commercial hit in 1990. Golden Globe was awarded to screenwriter and novelist Michael Blake for ''Best Screenplay - Motion Picture''. Blake originally wrote ''Dances With Wolves'' as a spec screenplay in the mid-1980s, hoping to sell it as his passion project. When no one in Hollywood bought it, he wrote the novel on Kevin Costner's suggestion to have a better chance of it being produced. Costner bought the rights to the film, and the result is cinematic history, with ''Dances With Wolves'' winning 7 Academy Awards, 3 Golden Globes and being designated in AFI's top 100 movies. An engraved plaque is mounted to the marble pedestal reading, ''Best Screenplay / Motion Picture / Michael Blake / 'Dances With Wolves' / 1990 / Hollywood Foreign Press Association / #9111''. Measures 9'' in height. Square base measures 3'' x 3''. In unusually pristine, near fine condition. Weighs 4 lbs., 4 oz. With an LOA from Blake's son.
