Penholder made of wood from Abraham Lincoln's home in Springfield, Illinois. 7'' penholder resembles a chopstick and has a metal, removable top measuring 1''. As stated in the notarized affidavit from the State of Illinois, ''THIS IS TO CERTIFY that this Penholder is made of wood taken Mr. Lincoln's old home, corner of Eighth and Jackson Streets, Springfield, Ills., before and after the repairs authorized by the Secretary of State and the 41st General Assembly, and that I made the same by hand in the carpenter shop at the State House''. 28 April 1904 document also contains ''SEAL OF THE SUPREME COURT STAMP'' which has faded with age. Letter has been repaired with tape but is entirely legible. Penholder has small missing piece near top and 1'' crack, in overall very good condition.
