Hap Arnold signed scrapbook, commemorating the war hero. After WWII, Arnold was in need of rest and found a family home on the McKenzie River in Eugene, Oregon. He, along with his wife and fellow military officers, were hosted by a man named Jim Luckey. Over the years, Arnold and Luckey kept it touch and eventually a scrapbook was assembled. The opening page is signed by Arnold, ''HH Arnold / General US Army / Commdg Air Force'', in addition to the three U.S. Army Air Force men who came along. Book includes newspaper and article clippings (both original and copied), postal correspondence and photos. Also includes covers of ''Time'' and ''Look'' magazines, both of which featured Arnold. Arnold was the only person to hold a five-star rank in two different U.S. military services and was taught to fly by the Wright Brothers. This fantastic tribute is both entertaining and historically insightful. Measures 12.5'' x 14.5'', weighs 3.1 pounds. Overall very good condition.
