Queen Elizabeth typed letter signed, written from Buckingham Palace on 24 January 1955 and sent to King Faisal II of Iraq. King Faisal II was close friends with Queen Elizabeth II and the British Royal Family, as the Kingdom of Iraq allowed itself to be led by British policies until the King and his family were killed in 1958. Typed on Buckingham Palace stationery, letter introduces one Shuaib Qureshi to the Iraqi King, and pleads his case for ambassadorship to Pakistan. 2pp. letter on one sheet reads in full, ''...Sir My Brother / Being desirous to maintain without interruption the representation at your Majesty's Court of the interests of Pakistan, I have judged it expedient to accredit to Your Majesty My Trust and Well-beloved Mr. Shuaib Qureshi in the character of My Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary for Pakistan. Having already had ample experience of Mr. Shuaib Qurehshi's talents and zeal for My service, I doubt not that he will fulfill the important duties of his Embassy in such a manner as to merit Your Majesty's approbation and esteem, and to prove himself worthy of this new mark of My confidence. I request that you will give entire credence to all that Mr. Shuaib Qureshi shall have occasion to communicate to You in My name, more especially when he shall express to Your Majesty My cordial wishes for Your Happiness, and shall assure You of the invariable attachment and highest esteem with which I am...'' The Queen then signs ''Sir My Brother / Your Majesty's Good Sister / Elizabeth R''. Letter measures 7.5'' x 9.5'', with two purple postal stamps to first page, and one to the second. One document fold down the middle and light toning. Very good.
