Handwritten notes by Richard Nixon, likely for a campaign speech in 1958. Notes detail his unique perspective on America's future success, taken from a collection of handwritten Nixon documents given to Nixon's biographer and New York Herald Tribune reporter Earl Mazo, who wrote, ''Richard Nixon: A Political and Personal Portrait''. Published in 1959, the book's source material was written near or before 1958 when Nixon was Vice President. Near the top of the note Nixon asks, ''What are goals for America?...1.) Peace - World law / 2.) Better life - more opportunity for individual, for education, for employment, for advancement / Security against illness, unemployment, old age / Better schools / Beautify cities / Rural Life / 3.) Full rich life - freedom / Leisure time / Art, literature, drama, architecture...opportunity / clean government / Church...'' Additionally he writes that our ''...greatest issue - is Peace with honor...'' and continues that ''Communism is threat...but greatest danger is in non military area...What Communism stands for is wrong / what we stand for is right...'' One single page handwritten in pencil on yellow legal paper measures 8'' x 12.5''. Folds, else near fine.
